General Lecturer“Embracing Nature: Managing Sustainable and Luxurious Hotel and Spa Experiences”

On September 26th, 2024, the Alumni & Career Center Department, in collaboration with the Hospitality & Tourism Study Program, successfully hosted a General Lecturer in partnership with The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali at The UBM Hall. The event “Embracing Nature: Managing Sustainable and Luxurious Hotel and Spa Experiences” offered valuable insights into the environmental impact of the hospitality industry and the innovative strategies used to address it.

Mr. Dhaniel Fernando, Director of Learning and Development at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, delivered a compelling presentation that highlighted the industry’s environmental footprint and the various initiatives undertaken to minimize it, including reducing plastic usage, participating in river clean-up projects, minimizing food waste, and many implementing sustainable waste management practices. The seminar concluded with an engaging Q&A session, demonstrating the students’ keen interest in the subject. Mr. Hari Iskandar, Secretary of the Hospitality & Tourism Study Program, presented a Token of Appreciation to Mr. Dhaniel Fernando.

This event aimed to enhance students’ understanding of environmental sustainability and inspire them to be more environmentally conscious. By highlighting the industry’s impact and available solutions, the seminar empowered students to contribute to a more sustainable future.
