Seminar “Green Revolution in Hotels: Cutting-Edge Technologies Transforming the Industry”

A successful seminar was jointly organized by the Alumni & Career Center and the Hospitality & Tourism Study Program, in cooperation with Padma Hotels, on September 27th, 2024, at the UBM Master Kitchen. The seminar, “Green Revolution in Hotels: Cutting-Edge Technologies Transforming the Industry” offered attendees valuable information about the hospitality industry’s environmental footprint and the innovative ways to reduce it.

Mr. Suryaningrat Wirawanto, Corporate Training Manager at Padma Hotels, gave a captivating talk on Padma Hotels’ efforts to reduce their environmental impact. Padma Hotels has successfully implemented a program to produce eco-enzymes from fruit waste, which can be used as a natural fertilizer and cleaning agent. Additionally, they have implemented other sustainable practices, even with a limited budget. A lively Q&A session followed the presentation, highlighting the student’s enthusiasm for learning about sustainable hospitality practices. Mr. Rendy Sarudin, Lecture of the Hospitality & Tourism Study Program, presented a Token of Appreciation to Mr. Suryaningrat Wirawanto.

The seminar was designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of environmental sustainability and inspire them to engage in environmental stewardship proactively. By spotlighting the pressing challenges faced by industries and presenting potential solutions, the event aimed to empower students to become catalysts for positive change, driving towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly future.
